This site is dedicated to exposing the truth behind what happened when I did
all of the above. Do I have your attention? thought so, the story begins in
September 2004.
Hi my name is Jason Holmes a nightclub DJ with a young family from a former
mining village called Dinnington on the South Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire border,
back in September 2004 I was working as a van driver, on the evening of Tuesday
14th September 2004 I got in my car and drove the 13 miles to a house in
Rotherham where I met an acquaintance "Ian Hawkridge" who the previous Sunday
had told me in a conversation that he had taken a course in PC refurbishing and
had a number of machines he was selling on e-bay. Wanting a cheap computer for
my children to use I went to his house with the intention of buying one. I chose
a machine from a few stacked in a corner paid him £70 and left.
When I got home I began to assemble the computer and made sure there was nothing
contained on it my children shouldn't see, I noticed there were some files in
the re-cycle bin one of them caught my eye because of the name "Beckham
security" I restored the file and began to peruse the contents, you can imagine
my amazement when I found details of the families security arrangements, maps of
their houses, DNA profiles, travel arrangements, invoices, as well as a large
number of e-mails and fax conversation between the security firms managing
director and various people at "team Beckham" none of these documents were
encrypted and at no stage did any of the documents have "confidential" or
"private" on them. Let me be clear these documents contained explosive
information so much so that if they were in the public domain would be very
"troublesome" to a number of people, at this point for legal reasons I will not
go into the details but this situation may change in the future.
Now knowing that this was a serious breach of security I contacted a national
newspaper "the sun" we don't love it, and you will know why when you read on, a
reporter "John Askill" called me back and told me he would call at my address
the following morning and he did, after lengthy negotiations and many phone
calls he agreed to purchase the story of the security breach for £20,000 on
behalf of the sun. Please note the agreement was for the story...I did not sell
the computer to them, the agreement was that none of the sensitive information
would be re-produced or published this was a specific condition to which the sun
agreed, John Askill in the subsequent Police Investigation is quoted as saying
as much. click here to see the document in which he is quoted. To this day the
sun have refused to pay the £20,000 despite John Askill signing a contract on
behalf of the sun, I would advise anyone to avoid this publication if they find
themselves in a similar situation, they crap on the very people they purport to
represent I am now pursuing the payment through the courts.
At around 4.30 in the afternoon after Mr Askill had left (taking the computer
with him) I was paid a visit by Hawkridge in an attempt to recover the computer
it seems his company (chase security) had been tipped off by a friend of mine
who thought the company would wish to get the computer back, I told Hawkridge
that the computer had gone, to which he informed me the "heavies" were coming
over from Manchester, and they would get it back by any means possible, he then
left after making the comment "I wouldn't mind but I have not even made any
money out of it".
It had been a long and stressful day so you will not be surprised to learn that
my wife and I unwound with a couple of stiff drinks and reflected on the days
events before retiring to bed heads buzzing.
I was not present at the following events so this account is gleaned from
information I received afterwards
Aprox 10.30 pm the same night chase security employee Ian Hawkridge and managing
director Peter Constadine travelled from Wakefield to Maltby police station near
Rotherham South Yorkshire passing at least 5 other police stations along the
way, they entered the police station and made a complaint that one of their
computers had been stolen and someone was trying to blackmail them to get it
back, they make statements saying.....(are you ready for this?) that Ian
Hawkridge for some unknown reason has “taken the managing directors PC home with
him”, I have travelled the 13 miles to his house for no apparent reason I have
spotted the PC in the corner and asked to "lend" the computer to look something
up on the internet, he has then "lent" me the computer belonging to the managing
director with all the information about his clients on it..... (you just
couldn't make this up!!) Based upon this statement (which we have been trying to
have released by SYP but we will get to that later) the officers have, within 1
hour, at 11:30 pm, take 2 other police officers off a road traffic accident and
raided my address and arrested me, searched the house including my children's
bedrooms waking them in the process. Note: The officers who searched the house
have denied this saying they popped their heads around the door, it is then
unknown how they managed to get to the only item seized during the raid which
was stored underneath my daughters bed. It is clear to me that the police
officer in charge (who I will not name as there is an ongoing investigation into
his conduct) was star struck when he heard the name "Beckham" and did not think
the situation through, other officers in the days afterwards did comment that
when the radio message came through they thought it was a wind up, its not every
day that our small town has action pertaining to the Beckham’s and an alleged
blackmail attempt.
I was taken to Rotherham police station where they tried to process me, as you
can understand I was un co-operative and really annoyed about being dragged out
of bed and arrested when I had done nothing wrong, I refused to sign the custody
record and acknowledge that I knew why I had been arrested I also told them I
wanted a bible, in the report by superintendent Teague after complaining about
the conduct and validity of my arrest, my conduct during this "booking in"
procedure was put down to my being blind drunk, this was not the case I freely
admit that I had consumed alcohol but was not intoxicated furthermore if I was
blind drunk why was the doctor not called for to make sure I was fit to be
detained. This did not happen, at around 12.30 am my Father arrived at the desk
of Rotherham police station after hearing of my arrest to ask if I had my
medication (I'm asthmatic and suffer with angina after a myocardial infarction
in 1997) he was told that I had my medication and sent on his merry way, this
again was not the case, in fact I did not get any medication until 11.30 the
following day at the request of my solicitor Stephen D Smith. I was informed
that a friend of mine had also been arrested, and we were to be interviewed
about the "theft" of the computer and an alleged blackmail plot, later that day,
in interview I gave my account and then was "sat back down" police slang for
locking you up in a cell, the computer was recovered from the sun reporter at
11.00 am that day in Leicestershire. In total I was locked up for 18 hours
before being released at about 6.30 the following evening.
